I thought this was called spring “break?”

If I wanted to not bore you in this blog, I would have to make up everything I did/wanted to do during spring break.

As much as I would like to say I traveled on an amazing trip to an exotic location, my reality for spring break is that I worked, worked, worked…and worked. Between writing press releases for my internship, selling Pandora bracelets at my retail position and interviewing what feels like half of the RMU faculty and staff, my spring break has been anything but a break.

Instead of jetting off to Cancun, Mexico, I let my break become a pathway away from stress in order to catch –up on homework.

In order to save my sanity, I did make some time for fun. I got to see friends who came home from school, watch a live band, go to a food tasting party. Nothing extremely glamorous, but I had to take what I could get.

To me, sitting around with my best friends tops any trip to an exotic  location anyways.

My most exciting part about break? Getting to shop for baby things since I discovered I am going to be an aunt for the first time. All of the stress of school, work, and internships melted away when I saw the little peanut on my sister’s sonogram.

While my spring break wasn’t the most exciting event, I figured I would save all of those exciting plans for summer…or it could be just work, work and more work.

  1. Working stinks, esp. on spring break but do you work at a jewelry store? You mentioned that you sell Pandora bracelets -- I LOVE PANDORA. I have a bracelet I got for Christmas a few years ago and it is all filled with charms! It is my most prized possession. Also, Congrats on being an Aunt for the first time! That must be so exciting getting to shop for baby things!

    1. Hey Briana,

I most definitely can relate to your spring break. No vacations for me, just work, work and more work. I worked at Ski Check at Seven Springs and since there was barely any snow there, I barely had any customers come in so basically I just sat behind a desk for 8 hours doing nothing haha. Oh well, better to get paid to do nothing than to not get paid to do nothing.

I can't relate to you on the homework part. I did absolutely no homework over break and I am suffering this week for not doing it.

Also, congrats on being an aunt. That must be very exciting for you.

  2. I think a lot of us had the same spring break. I just keep telling myself that while everyone else was spending their money in Florida or Mexico or wherever they went, I was making money. And I have many fun things planned for after graduation to make up for it.

Congrats on becoming an aunt! I have one niece and now a nephew on the way and I have to say, being an aunt is absolutely the best thing in the world!

  3. Sounds like we both had the same kind of break. I worked my butt off both at work and catching up on homework. I went out for a little bit on friday night for an early st. patty's day celebration, but that just seemed to be a HUGE mistake all together. i spent saturday sick at work.

  4. Bri, my break was exactly the same way! Work and school work consumed me. The only day I got to enjoy was Saturday night. I think the majority of us had the same kind of break. If you actually call it a break!

  5. I feel you on the work and homework damper of this "spring break" I seem to hear so much about. A food tasting party sounds incomparable though with a bottomless pit appetite like mine. Congratulations on being an aunt, I am actually one to twin boys myself! It is an experience like no other I've had thus far and nothing compares so seeing those boys gigantic toothless smiles. Summer is coming up quite soon so just hang in there until then!

  6. Work and homework sure destroied my spring break, I did manage to get out for a night here or there but it was nothing too exciting. I would have much rather spent my break on the beach or in another city, but hopefully soon I will get some time for that. School comes first but its almost over!

  7. congrats on being an aunt! I love baby shopping and picking out the cutest clothes! I didnt get to go on any vacations either but i agree with you about spending time with good friends is what matters most to me anyway! I didnt work too much over break because I just wanted to relax and spend some time with family and friends.
